Position: Specialist Speech & Language Therapist - Dysphagia

Location: Ealing, W7

Role: Fixed Term Contract

Start: ASAP

Duration: 8 months (possible extension)

Salary: £42,939 - £50,967 (Inclusive of HCAS)

The Role

The post holder will be based in the Ealing Community Team for People with Learning Disabilities (CTPLD). They will provide assessment, treatment and management to service users in a range of community settings. The post holder will assess clients with communication/swallowing disorders and develop and implement highly specialist, SLT management and treatment packages. They will independently manage and prioritise a specialist caseload. They will provide advice to other professionals and carers regarding the management and care of clients with communication/swallowing disorders. They will lead on dysphagia service development. The role will comprise both dysphagia and communication-related work.

Education/Qualifications

  • Essential
  • Registration with Health Professions Council as a Speech and Language Therapist.
  • Recognised Speech & Language Therapy Degree qualification or equivalent.
  • Registered member of RCSLT.
  • Evidence of successful completion of courses to Master's degree or equivalent, including post-graduate Dysphagia qualification.
  • Desirable
    • Evidence of attendance at relevant courses and membership of relevant Special Interest Groups.

    Knowledge & Experience

    • Essential
    • Substantial postgraduate SLT experience, to include some NHS experience.
    • Extensive dysphagia management skills, some of which should be within the clinical specialism.
    • Advanced knowledge of a broad range of assessment tools relevant to the clinical specialism.
    • Advanced knowledge of trends/best practice within the clinical specialism.
    • Substantial experience of working in adult learning disabilities.
    • Knowledge of national guidance and legislation relevant to the post.
  • Desirable
    • In-depth knowledge of the principles of clinical governance.
    • In-depth knowledge of national policies and procedures relevant to the clinical specialism.
