Position: Teaching Assistant
Location: Woking
Contract Type: Full Time, Temp to Perm
Working Schedule: Term Time Only, 36 hours per week
Salary: up to £25,500 FTE Start Date: Next Term or ASAP
Role Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to join our client's team. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work closely with young people in an alternative provision, supporting their educational and personal development. The position is initially temporary and potentially permanent based on performance and school needs. As a Teaching Assistant, you will support teachers in delivering high-quality education and ensuring a positive learning environment for all students.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assisting teachers in planning and implementing lessons tailored to individual student needs
- Providing one-on-one or small group support to students
- Creating a safe and engaging classroom environment
- Supporting students with special educational needs and behavioural challenges
- Assisting with classroom management and providing strong behavioural support during challenging times
- Preparing learning materials and resources
- Supervising students during break times and school activities
Skills and Experience Required:
- Previous experience as a Teaching Assistant or in a similar role with SEND/SEMH/behaviour is highly desirable
- A passion for working with young people and supporting their educational journey
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team
- Flexibility and adaptability to meet the needs of the school
- Patience, empathy, and a positive attitude
- A DBS check on the update service or willingness to obtain one
- Degrees such as Psychology and Criminology are of interest in SEMH (mental health) but not essential
