Legal Counsel

Reporting into the Head of Legal & Business affairs, this role is integral to the business and will be responsible for the following:

·Publishing contracts, including management of the contracts workflow process;

·Providing legal advice, and where necessary, handling contractual disputes;

·Advising on commercial terms and opportunities and handling negotiations as appropriate;

·Ensuring contractual coherence and awareness from commissioning stage to publication and co-edition sales by providing a key link between the Editorial, Production, International Rights, and Communications Departments;

·You will also have responsibility to manage a small team.

You will be a qualified lawyer and ideally worked for a book publisher. We are looking for someone who has a strong understanding of publishing agreements and of course, copyright law. It would also be interesting if you’ve worked in tv or film.

You will have worked extensively on drafting agreements and be able to demonstrate strong negotiation skills.
