Cadw Head of Visitor Experience and Business Development – Permanent

Salary range: G6 – £73,978 – £84,882

Cadw is seeking to appoint to Cadw Head of Visitor Experience and Business Development. If you have a background developing audience-led visitor experiences and programming and want to transform experiences at our historic sites for millions of visitors: look no further than this role. Cadw is the Welsh Government’s historic environment service and plays a pivotal role in connecting people with the historic environment of Wales; and we want to do more.

At the heart of our strategy is a commitment to ensuring our sites are more relevant and appealing to a greater number and diversity of people. This critical leadership role will ensure experiences evolve to better meet the needs of current and future visitors, so that our visitor business continues to generate the financial support on which the conservation of our historic places depends.

We have a permanent opportunity for someone looking to make an impact in a senior leadership role.

Location

Pan Wales

The role will require some travelling including overnight stays for attendance at site meetings and Board meetings.

Cadw’s HQ is in Merthyr and you will be expected to work there at least once a week but you can base yourself at any one of our locations across Wales.

Requirements

To join us, have you got the following skills:

  • Highly developed project management skills, able to make decisions and drive projects forward, delivering to budgets and agreed timescales.
  • Strong knowledge of the UK and wider heritage sector, regularly keeping up to date with trends and best practise.
  • Experience of running a major visitor business, with demonstrable experience of growing commercial income and developing visitor experience/enjoyment.
  • Successful track record of delivering audience-led experiences and visitor programming.

Salary

A starting salary between £73,978 and £79,160 will be offered to the successful candidate based on their skills, knowledge, experience and performance at interview. This range is not negotiable.
