Graduate Optimisation Analyst

Base Pay Range Our client specializes in building precision risk management and trading tools for freight rates, commodity arbitrages, new fuels, and emissions. We are helping them recruit for a great graduate quant analyst for the expanding company – if you have quant experience or quant learning from University and would be interested in joining a growing team. Main Duties Develop, implement, and solve advanced optimization models (linear, integer, mixed-integer programming, etc.) to support cost, routing, refueling, and emissions-related objectives for the shipping industry. Balance the trade-off between precision and computational efficiency by tuning models, leveraging solver parameters, and occasionally supplementing algorithms with heuristics or metaheuristics. Analyze and interpret results, translating them into actionable recommendations. Collaborate with the team to understand requirements, gather data, validate model assumptions, and create a robust suite of testing tools. Implement optimization solutions in tools such as Gurobi, CPLEX, or other solvers. Document methodologies, assumptions, and results for stakeholders. Stay current with emerging trends and technologies in optimization and operations research.
