Role Overview:

With your experience in systems accounting, you’ll be part of our financial and systems accounting function. Working in close collaboration with team members and staff across the Council, you’ll be responsible for maintaining the Finance and Income Management Systems ensuring that these systems meet the needs of the organisation and that "business-as-usual" is maintained. Leading in the implementation of any new developments, this role would suit someone who’s newly qualified and wants to take that next step, helping to shape the Finance systems across our future-focussed organisation., * Carry out all Finance Systems and Income Management Systems operational technical support duties to ensure that "business-as-usual" is maintained, and to lead in the implementation of any new developments of both the Financial Management System (FMS) and the Income Management System (IMS).

  • Technical liaison with third-party suppliers and/or external consultants where appropriate with regard to support issues such as fault reporting, implementations or upgrades. Ensure that a knowledge base is regularly updated to allow joint problem resolution.

  • Lead on retendering key systems and contracts (including credit card merchant, core financial system, income system etc) as appropriate and according to the business plan.

  • Supporting the financial management and development of good governance with regard of the Council’s multiyear programme.

  • Being aware of new and pending legislation and policy changes and supporting in the preparation of timely briefings to the S151 Officer.

  • Relevant Degree

  • Relevant professional qualification

  • Membership of an industry body, preferably Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy (CIPFA)

  • Membership of other relevant professional bodies
