Manufacturing Engineer will be responsible for all aspects of the internal manufacturing process within Assembly

Our client, a leading company in the aerospace sector, is seeking enthusiastic Junior Manufacturing Engineers to join their dynamic team.

You’ll be joining a team at the forefront of military aerospace manufacturing, where you’ll play a key role in delivering high-performance components for critical defence programs.

In this role, you’ll be hands-on with final and sub-assembly processes, driving improvements and innovation in the production of complex military fuel tanks, canopy assemblies, and probe refueling equipment. You’ll also work on MRO/RTW (Return to Work) surveys and manufacturing process development, helping to enhance quality, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness.

  • Drive manufacturing excellence by leading process planning, tooling, inspection criteria, and lean methodologies.

  • Create clear and effective engineering instructions to enhance manufacturing efficiency, cost management, and quality control.

  • Engage with customers to understand and support both internal and external needs.

  • Lead innovation by supporting New Technology Initiatives (NTI) and overseeing equipment upgrades from purchase to commissioning.

  • Support New Product Introduction (NPI) with a strong focus on Design for Manufacture (DFM) and operational performance.

  • Manage tooling requirements, supporting design from concept to final implementation.

  • Assess process and equipment changes through cost-benefit analysis to optimize production efficiency.

  • Ensure a safe working environment by leading Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) projects and maintaining compliance.

  • Improve product quality by identifying and reducing process variations and driving root cause analysis.

  • Define, measure, and enhance process capability using lean manufacturing principles.

  • Lead or contribute to process improvement initiatives, reducing costs and increasing capacity.

  • Support and deliver training to enhance skills within the manufacturing environment.

  • Lead and participate in both local and site-wide improvement projects.

  • Ensure resource allocation aligns with business needs, managing stakeholder expectations effectively.

  • Advocate for best practices and continuous improvement, ensuring alignment with company processes and objectives.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Aeronautical Engineering OR an apprentice-trained background with an HNC qualification in engineering.

  • Experience or an interest in mechanical assembly, preferably in the aerospace or automotive sectors.

  • A keen eye for detail and a problem-solving mindset.

  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work well in a team.

  • Enthusiasm to learn and grow within a fast-moving engineering environment.

  • Knowledge of Assembly practises riveting, fasteners installation, match drilling of multiple components sealing of aircraft structures, installing aircraft components into jigs and fixtures.

Desirable

  • Project management skills.

  • Six Sigma Green Belt trained and certified.

  • Experience in a metallics manufacturing environment.

  • Prepared to travel within the UK and overseas to meet the customer and/or our suppliers.

  • Prepared to work on shift if required.
