We are a successful Petroleum Tanker haulage company operating throughout the UK and Europe. Due to continued success and growth, we are now looking to recruit a Transport Manager to join our team in the Bristol office.

What will I be responsible for?

The successful Transport Manager will be responsible for ensuring that all services are delivered to a high standard in accordance with customer requirements and company targets.

Main responsibilities:

  • Liaising with clients to assist with any requirements

  • Monitoring the progress of the daily operation, taking into account all the legal requirements and those of the customer, to achieve the most cost-effective route and utilisation of vehicles and staff

  • Rota traffic team members’ working hours, paying particular attention when authorising holiday, to cover absences.

  • Ensure that all incoming calls are dealt with promptly, motivating staff as required and assisting the caller where possible, or passing to the relevant person.

  • Ensure Health & Safety and legal requirements are being followed

  • Following up on accident / injury investigations, including customer complaints and ensure follow up claims, costs, actions required are followed through to conclusion.

  • Manage and maintain O licence compliance of owned

  • Monitoring compliance with the requirements governing the carriage of dangerous goods

  • Procedural accuracy, training and full compliance of all transport operations

  • Managing general transport budget.

  • Preparation of management reports

  • Evaluating the recruitment needs of the business and proposing hiring plans/solutions to senior management.

  • Technology/system improvements, problem solving, point of contact with external provider.

  • Attend meetings as required by the business, on-site and externally, to meet the demands of the business and that of our customers.

  • Monitor emerging good practice trends and initiatives in the industry and adopt where appropriate

If you have previous experience of the transport industry, this could be the ideal role for you. The successful Transport Manager, will also need the following skills and competencies:

  • CPC – Transport Management Qualification

  • Proven experience of managing transport compliance

  • Proven experience of managing drivers

  • Experience in VOSA/DVLA compliance

  • Experience within a similar transport compliance manager position

  • Must have a ‘can do’ attitude

  • Presentable, polite and demonstrate excellent customer service skills

  • Strong customer service skills

  • Competent decision making

  • Ability to work under pressure and to deadlines

  • Dangerous goods safety advisor with a DGSA qualification and experience (not essential)

Flexible Shift Patterns:

o Monday to Friday (8:30 to 17:30)

o Flexibility required over weekend and nights
