As the Head of Swimming, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the strategy of aquatic development, fostering a positive and engaging environment that drives success at national and international levels. You will manage the coaching staff, liaise with all departments across school life, and lead by example in the planning and delivery of aquatic activity at Millfield School. Working in collaboration with the Director of Sport to cultivate a supportive and thriving atmosphere for all students.
Additionally, you will develop an innovative curriculum for coach development and deliver educational programmes to assist parents in supporting their children’s swimming journey. Your responsibilities will include liaising with National Governing Bodies (NGBs) and school support services, leveraging the latest scientific research to enhance long-term athlete development.
You will meticulously maintain records of all student-athlete Individual Development Plans and lead our teams in designated away competitions. Effective communication with academic and pastoral teams is crucial, as is building strong relationships with parents and home coaches.
We are looking for a candidate with a proven track record of developing young athletes to international success, whilst managing a holistically balanced environment, holding at least a UKCC Level 3 Award for Coaching Swimming or equivalent. Experience in creating sustainable swim programmes and working within an educational environment is essential. The ideal candidate will embody Millfield’s values, demonstrate inspiring leadership qualities, and seamlessly integrate their ideas within our vibrant organisational culture.
