About the Role
The opportunity is to develop and deliver your engineering skills within the Cyber security group. We value people being engaged and caring about customers, caring about the code they write or the business systems and processes they develop to make Starling secure.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement identity solutions across both a variety of SaaS and bespoke identity tooling.
  • Enable and continuously improve the automation of processes within the wider identity and access management team leading to effective, timely and scalable operations.
  • Ensure technical development within identity and access management is aligned to wider system development life cycle and operating procedures.
  • Ensure identity and access management development and automation is clearly documented providing knowledge share to the wider security team as appropriate.
  • Maintain identity and access management solutions and capabilities.
  • Participate in the evaluation of new solutions and improvements to existing capabilities; identify and propose practicable proportionate improvements.
  • Collaborate with engineering and business teams to facilitate delivery, including input and guidance to security related technical architecture and design decisions.
  • Code review of features and critical security components.
  • Contribute and support during incidents, ensuring the Incident Management processes are followed including post-incident reviews and reporting.
  • Act as Engineering liaison, providing SME knowledge on identity and access management solutions during an incident.
  • Advise on remediation of security issues and processes to address root causes.
  • Continually develop and maintain knowledge and expertise on the Bank proprietary systems, security model and wider security best practices.
  • Provide advanced troubleshooting as well as disaster recovery planning and tests.
  • Provide training, guidance and mentorship for other team members.
  • Stay abreast of current industry trends relevant to the business and cybersecurity.
  • Participate in cyber security team hiring procedures as required.

Requirements

Your Skills

  • Experience of design and delivery related to an Identity Management System, e.g. Okta, Entra ID, Ping, etc.
  • Experience with automation and developer tooling (CI/CD).
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using tools such as Terraform.
  • Strong identity knowledge, including authentication protocols, Identity Lifecycle Management, Privileged Access Management, Role Based Access Control and Identity Governance.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Essential Background

  • Promote cyber security standards, procedures & guidelines, and best practices outside the security functions.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills including the ability to explain complex security concepts to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Understanding of cyber security controls across different technology architectures including cloud (AWS, GCP).
  • Design, development (including scripting and configuration) and continuous improvement of security solutions.
  • Security development lifecycle and deployment.
  • Champion efforts to secure business processes and data through collaboration.
  • Understanding and awareness of security principles including privileged access, role based access technologies and approaches.
  • Innovation mindset and enjoy problem solving.
  • Be self motivated and want to continue to learn and develop and challenge.
  • Programming skills e.g. Go, Python, Java.
  • Engage with the broader security community within and external to the organisation.

Desirable

  • Experience within or across Identify/Detect/Protect/Recover/Respond or Governance NIST Domains.
  • Experience with security control frameworks such as NIST CSF, CIS benchmarks, ISO27001, and SOC2.

  • First stage with the IAM Team Lead.
  • Short take home test (not timed or deadlined).
  • Second stage with additional members of the IAM team.
  • Final stage with Infosec Director and CISO.
