The main duties of the post will include:

*The duties of the post, some of which will require physical effort such as standing for long periods,waking distances, pushing and pulling and climbing stairs

*The cleaning and preparation of various areas in the academic and associated buildings such asseminar rooms, offices, male and female toilets, corridors, lifts, laboratories, meeting rooms andgymnasiums.

*To carry out various types of cleaning tasks so that cleaning specification standards are achieved.

*Replenishment of consumables such as soap, hand sanitiser and toilet rolls.

*Cleaning of external areas.

*Refuse and recycling collection.

*Fault reporting.

*The operation of mechanical cleaning equipment (following suitable training).

*To provide cleaning cover across all University buildings including the residential buildings as andwhen required by management.

*Responding to emergency cleaning requests including the clear up of floods, offensive waste andsharps.

*Participation in all training that is deemed to be necessary by Soft FM Services.

*To provide support when necessary to all other Soft FM Services groups.

*The use of ICT equipment for annual leave applications, self-certification etc.

*Follow health and Safety guidelines at all times, particularly:

C.O.S.H.H (Control of Substances Hazardous to Health)

P.P.E (Personal Protective Equipment)

Working at Heights

Kinetic Manual Handling

*Ensuring that all cleaning materials and equipment are stored safely at all times and that onlyapproved cleaning materials as detailed in the C.O.S.H.H register are used.

*Any other duties as may be assigned from time to time by the Head of Soft FM Services or theirnominee.
