If so, we want to hear from you! The Opportunity At Hinkley Point C (HPC), we are constructing two new nuclear reactors, marking the first of a new generation of nuclear power stations in the UK. Once operational, these reactors will provide low-carbon electricity to power around six million homes. An exciting opportunity has arisen in the Pre-Ops and Commissioning Team for a Commercial Manager. You will join an ever-expanding team to help with the day-to day contract and commercial management duties for Pre-Ops and Commissioning contracts. This will involve liaising with contractors and being responsible for managing and reviewing payments, contact administration (via CEMAR) and general commercial management duties including risk mitigation. As part of your role, you will have further opportunities to develop and support the delivery of Long-Term Service Agreements (LTSA) for HPC which is a significant workstream for the operational phase of the project. This will require the co-ordination and oversight of the complete procurement cycle in line with HPC governance requirements, ensuring timely and cost-effective acquisition of goods and services. What you’ll be doing You’ll oversee the day-to-day management of Supply Chain Assistants, guiding them to ensure seamless project operations. You’ll be responsible for the delivery of contracts, ensuring alignment with HPC governance requirements and business objectives. Throughout each contract phase, you’ll play a key role: Procurement Phase: Supporting the procurement process and assisting the Senior Commercial Manager by assessing the contract’s scope, duration, and expected value against the Contract Authorised Sum (CAS), and defining commercial requirements. Execution Phase: Leading the commercial administration of contracts, aiming to optimize operational and financial outcomes while minimizing risk, ensuring the safe and cost-effective delivery of the HPC programme. Closeout Phase: Managing contract closeouts, providing commercial support to project managers, and ensuring formal completion of all project contracts. You’ll also identify and document key commercial insights and lessons learned for future projects. Throughout, you’ll provide commercial support to the Senior Commercial Manager to facilitate effective contract delivery and help drive the success of HPC’s business objectives. Who you are You’re an experienced contract management professional with a solid foundation in commercial practices and a proven track record of successfully administering contracts. You have a strong understanding of best-practice methodologies and bring sound decision-making skills, especially in high-value financial matters. With expertise in contract performance measurement, risk, and change management, you’re well-equipped to handle complex commercial functions. Educated to degree level or with equivalent experience, you’re familiar with the most widely used contract forms in the industry, including NEC and FIDIC, and have a particular focus on UK law and its implications on contract and commercial roles. Ideally, you also bring knowledge of the nuclear site license conditions and the UK regulatory framework, and you may even be a member of a professional body such as RICS, CICES, or IOB.
