Overview

Here\’s the facts about the role: As a caretaker, you\’ll deliver a consistent caretaking/cleaning service to the communal areas of our housing blocks and properties. This is a physical role with daily tasks carried out in shared spaces.

Responsibilities

  • Sweeping, picking up loose bags from the floor area within our bin stores
  • Mopping
  • Vacuuming
  • Damp wiping
  • Weekly fire alarm & smoke detector testing
  • Monthly emergency light testing & automatic opening vents
  • Following a rota and pattern of work
  • Maintaining sites to a set frequency and standard
  • Working to a defined specification
  • Adhering to our 7 step first class repairs service (see job description)
  • Completing fire safety compliance checks
  • Completing electronic records for tasks and activities (site visits, minor repairs, changing communal lamps)

Experience & Skills

  • Ideally, you\’ll have previous experience of cleaning and caretaking/janitorial work with working knowledge of operating cleaning machinery
  • Capable of carrying out basic maintenance and minor repairs
  • Comfortable using a handheld device to log work
  • Willing to use reasonable adjustments where possible

Requirements

  • Working at heights
  • Manual handling and lifting heavy and bulky items
  • A high degree of mobility, including walking, lifting, loading and unloading
  • Full, clean current driving licence (held for at least 1 year) is needed to drive one of our vans when necessary
  • DBS check required

Location & hours

Contractually based out of our Portsmouth office, you\’ll cover Eastleigh and the surrounding areas. This is a full-time, permanent role working 39 hours per week: Monday to Thursday 08:00–16:30, Friday 08:00–15:30.
