Assistant Estimator

Position Overview:

We are seeking an organized and detail-oriented Assistant Estimator to join our client's team. In this role, you will assist senior estimators in preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for raised flooring projects. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, a basic understanding of construction and flooring systems, and the ability to work collaboratively within a team.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist in Estimation:Support senior estimators in calculating material, labour, and other costs for raised flooring projects.
• Project Documentation:Review project plans, specifications, and other relevant documentation to gather information for estimates.
• Site Visits:Assist in conducting site assessments to evaluate project scope, dimensions, and site conditions for accurate estimates.
• Cost Analysis:Collect and analyse quotes from suppliers and subcontractors to ensure competitive pricing.
• Prepare Estimates:Help in preparing comprehensive cost estimates, including material take-offs, labour costs, and any additional project-specific considerations.
• Bid Preparation:Assist in preparing and submitting bids in line with company standards and project requirements.
• Client Communication:Communicate with clients, contractors, and vendors to clarify project details and ensure alignment on expectations.
• Tracking & Reporting:Maintain records of estimates and track project progress and costs to ensure projects stay within budget.
• Software Utilization:Use estimating software and tools to generate accurate quotes and documentation.

Qualifications:

• Education:High school diploma or equivalent required. A degree or technical training in construction management, architecture, or a related field is a plus.
• Experience:Previous experience in construction estimating or a related role, especially in flooring or raised flooring, is preferred.

Skills:

• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Basic understanding of construction materials, processes, and terminology.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, etc.) and estimating software.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and technical specifications.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: £30,000.00-£40,000.00 per year
