Company Overview: A well-established groundworks contractor specialising in roads, sewers, and infrastructure for housing and commercial developments is expanding its commercial team in Gateshead. We are looking to appoint a motivated Quantity Surveyor or Senior Quantity Surveyor with a strong background in groundwork projects to oversee the financial delivery of our works.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare, manage, and report on budgets, forecasts, and cost plans across groundworks projects.
- Carry out cost value reconciliation (CVR) and maintain accurate financial records.
- Administer subcontracts, variations, and claims to maximise commercial returns.
- Negotiate with suppliers and subcontractors to ensure best value procurement.
- Work closely with site teams and clients to ensure commercial and operational alignment.
- Maintain compliance with company health, safety, and environmental standards.
Requirements:
- Minimum 1 year’s experience in Quantity Surveying, within groundworks or civil engineering.
- Sound knowledge of groundworks packages such as drainage, foundations, roads, and external works.
- Confident in contract administration, cost control, and negotiation.
- Capable of managing multiple sites and tight deadlines.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Right to work in the UK.
