Position Overview: We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Head of the Mechanical Department to lead and inspire a team of talented engineers and technicians. The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing the design, development, and integration of mechanical systems for our cutting-edge satellite payloads. This role requires a blend of technical expertise, strategic thinking, and leadership skills to drive innovation and ensure the successful execution of projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the mechanical engineering team, providing mentorship, guidance, and performance evaluations.
- Oversee the design, analysis, and testing of mechanical components and systems for satellite payloads.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including electrical, software, and systems engineering, to ensure seamless integration of mechanical systems.
- Develop and implement mechanical engineering processes, standards, and best practices.
- Manage project timelines, budgets, and resources to ensure successful project delivery.
- Conduct risk assessments and develop mitigation strategies for mechanical design challenges.
- Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and regulatory requirements relevant to satellite payload development.
- Foster a culture of innovation, continuous improvement, and collaboration within the mechanical department.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- Proven experience in a senior mechanical engineering role, preferably within the aerospace or satellite industry.
- Strong leadership and team management skills, with a track record of successfully leading engineering teams.
- In-depth knowledge of mechanical design principles, materials, and manufacturing processes.
- Experience with CAD software and simulation tools.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to think critically and strategically.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams.
- Familiarity with industry standards and regulations for satellite payloads.
