Our client is a leading supplier of products to the retail trade, including food, beverages and household goods. We are seeking a dynamic and results-driven National Account Manager to lead the efforts in the GB Wholesale and Convenience channel. This role is critical in driving growth, profitability, and fostering strong partnerships within this key market segment.

Reporting to the Commercial Director, you will take ownership of strategic planning and account management to deliver exceptional business outcomes.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Strategy, Planning & Development

  • Collaborate with the Commercial Director to develop and execute a comprehensive business plan and sales strategy tailored to GB Wholesale and Convenience accounts, ensuring sustainable profit and growth.
  • Lead and elevate the Company’s national account activities, encompassing account leadership, new business development, budget control, and accurate forecasting.
  • Develop and implement a robust customer contact strategy to identify and capitalise on emerging opportunities.
  • Craft and present compelling solution proposals to decision-makers, securing long-term commercial partnerships through effective negotiations.

Process & Financial Management

  • Take full accountability for the P&L of accounts under your responsibility, aligning investment plans with AOP objectives.
  • Administer allocated budgets in line with agreed guidelines, ensuring maximum return on investment.
  • Manage rebate setups and claim settlements for accounts with significant value, risk, or scale implications.

Account Management

  • Drive sales and manage trade promotional spend, collaborating on retailer category plans to enhance product ranging, pricing, and space allocation—especially for new product development (NPD).
  • Monitor and achieve all KPIs by proactively tracking account performance, implementing corrective actions, and fostering cross-functional collaboration.
  • Ensure high-quality preparation and efficient structuring of customer meetings to maximise opportunities.
  • Lead pricing strategy adjustments, including pre-conditioning, planning, execution, and objection handling.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Proven experience in national account management within the FMCG sector, with a strong track record in the Wholesale and Convenience channel.
  • Experience working within GB alcohol categories is desirable.
  • Exceptional leadership and negotiation skills, with the ability to build and sustain strategic partnerships.
  • Commercially astute with robust financial management expertise, including P&L accountability.
  • Strong analytical and planning capabilities, adept at leveraging CRM tools.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a collaborative approach to cross-functional teamwork.
  • Highly organized, results-driven, and adaptable to changing business priorities.
