Join a well-established, family-run principal contractor based in the South East, with offices in London and Kent. With a turnover of approximately £45 million and a dedicated team of around 70 staff, this company has built an excellent reputation for delivering complex projects, particularly in the healthcare and education sectors.
As an Estimator, you will be responsible for producing accurate, detailed, and competitive priced tenders. You will maintain strong relationships with prospective clients and professionals to encourage further tender invitations. Your role includes reviewing project plans and specifications to provide precise estimates for construction materials, labour, equipment, and subcontractor costs. Additionally, you will identify potential risks or issues that may impact project cost, schedule, or quality, and provide recommendations for mitigation. Effective communication with clients, contractors, and other stakeholders is essential to clarify project requirements, answer queries, and negotiate terms. Maintaining accurate records of all tender documents and ensuring compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards are also key responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Utilise extensive experience in estimating to analyze exact requirements and identify areas impacting the company.
- Provide detailed \’take-off\’ and Bill of Quantities.
- Engage in post-tender liaison with clients\’ project teams to progress projects to contract award.
- Ensure accuracy and transparency in both pre and post-tender discussions.
- Employ experience with estimating software packages.
Person Specification:
- Knowledge of the local supply chain and a deep understanding of current rates.
- Ability to work under tight deadlines.
- Analytical approach with attention to detail and strong reasoning abilities.
- Excellent communication, influencing, and liaison skills.
- Understanding of building materials, components, Building Regulations, estimating (including taking off), and health & safety.
- Familiarity with contractual procedures and responsibilities.
- Highly numerate with the ability to accurately handle numerical information.
