Part Time Finance/Accounts Assistant

We are a small sales office (turnover circa £5m) based just outside Guildford. We are part of a larger international group, employing 600 people worldwide. We promote a supportive working environment within a small team.
We are looking for a Finance/Accounts Assistant to work 20 hours per week. You will be expected to be in the office a minimum of two to three days per week and when asked to attend. The remainder of the time you may work from home or the office as is your preference
The successful applicant will oversee a variety of tasks with a primary focus on credit control – roughly 50% of the role.
Main Tasks:
- Credit Control
- Maintaining customer accounts
- Sales Ledger management
- Customer account reconciliations
- All aspects of cashbook including bank postings and bank reconciliations
- Stock control and maintenance of stock items
- Reporting and analysis using the finance system and excel
- Undertake monthly, quarterly and ad hoc reporting for Sales Ledger and Stock
- Assist in preparation of VAT returns
- Assist in month end reconciliations and journals
- General administrative tasks
Person Specification
- High level of numeracy and accuracy.
- 3 years minimum working in a finance team
- Part qualified AAT/ACCA/CIMA or other finance qualification
- Good knowledge of Excel
- Organised and structured
- Good attention to detail.
- Proactive, enthusiastic and flexible.
- Strong communication skills with a professional and friendly manner
- Ability to build good relationships
- An ability to be a supportive and flexible finance team member.
- A willingness to learn and help develop the Finance service.
Terms and Conditions
- Starting salary: up to £32k FTE dependent on experience (pro rata for hours worked)
- Hours: 20 hours in a 37.5 hour week – worked over 5 days
- Location: Hybrid
- Holidays: Pro-rata of full-time 25 days
