Proposals Engineer – MCS

Coventry, An exciting opportunity has come up for a Proposals Engineer to join Galliford Try’s MCS Control Systems team in the Environment division to deliver circa £10m of projects under multiple Frameworks and Non Water Framework clients per annum covering the United Kingdon.

Reporting to the Sales Manager, the role of the Proposals Engineer is primarily to:

  • Prepare and issue tenders to Customers based on Customer specifications and in line with meeting Company margin expectations

  • Review tender documents, design solutions, electrical specifications and engage with other internal departments prior to developing proposal to ensure correct solution is delivered

  • Liaise with interested internal departments on receipt of order and attend hand over meetings where necessary

  • Attend site visits and tender review meetings where necessary

Task and Responsibilities:

The key objectives of the appointment are to:

  • Assist in general tendering function administrative duties.

  • To maintain a consistent order input level in accordance with agreed order input budget.

  • To assist in the generation of initial enquiries from potential clients

  • To liaise and discuss with the potential client in preparation of any enquiry documents and the assessment of various technical solutions to the enquiry.

  • To be responsible for the preparation of tender documents ensuring that:

  • The enquiry meets the agreed criteria for content, delivery time, and potential margins.

  • The client agreed returns date is met.

  • The Company’s policy on financial margins are maintained for the tender.

  • The potential cash flow from stage payments are acceptable to MCS Control Systems Limited.

About the Team

Our Environment Business provides ‘source to sea’ asset delivery capability across the UK and Scotland working on both Frameworks and Standalone projects. Since AMP3 we have delivered in excess of £2bn assets for clients such as Yorkshire Water, United Utilities, Anglian Water, Thames Water, Southern Water, Welsh Water and Scottish Water. As an established player in the market this a great opportunity to join the team at a time of transformation as we shape ourselves to be fit for delivery in a future digital world. We have recently secured a plethora of places on the AMP7 Frameworks for Yorkshire Water, Southern Water and Thames Water for both Infrastructure and Non-Infrastructure projects ranging from £1-40m over the next five years.

  • Experience within the Water & Wastewater Sector advantageous.

  • Experience in Industrial Automation.

  • A good understanding of NEC Contracts.

  • Project Management.

  • Knowledge of SCADA & PLC systems

  • Knowledge of electrical systems.
