This is a great opportunity for an individual with a strong background in Finance to oversee financial arrangements and control, and to assist the Executive Headteacher in budget reviews, projections, and monitoring across a three-school Federation.
There is a requirement to work across three school sites during the week (TN15 6JP, TN13 2UR, BR8 7PJ).
We are looking for someone to work 4 days a week. Days and working hours are flexible and will be agreed upon with the successful candidate.
Primary responsibilities and requirements:
- Updating the Executive Headteacher and Federation Operations Officer on financial policy and planning
- Coordination of the annual budget of income and expenditure for the Federation
- Monitoring the budget and presenting management reports to the Executive Headteacher, attending relevant meetings, and collaborating with the Central Team
- Preparing long-term assessments of the Federation\’s financial performance
- Preparing financial appraisals for projects in collaboration with the Central Team
- Coordinating income-generating activities, including grant applications
- Advising on optimal utilization of school funds and investments
- Ensuring accurate payroll submissions, including PAYE, NIC, and Superannuation
- Maintaining the academy account, preparing income and expenditure reports, and submitting accounts to the Local Authority
- Overseeing premises compliance and certificate validity
Candidate requirements:
- Experience in financial management and budgeting
- Experience in line management
- Knowledge of Capita SIMS/BPS (desirable)
- Understanding of school financial policies and procedures
- Flexible, professional, and reliable attitude
- Ability to work collaboratively and independently
- Proficiency in preparing complex reports and correspondence
- Awareness of confidentiality procedures and legislation
