Job Title: SEN Teaching Assistant – Complex Needs & Personal Care
Location: Hove
Salary: £90 – £100 per day (Depending on experience)
Start Date: September 2025
Contract Type: Full-Time, Long-Term
Are you a compassionate and committed individual ready to support pupils with complex needs in a meaningful and rewarding way?
A dynamic school in Hove is seeking a caring and resilient SEN Teaching Assistant to work with students who have a range of complex needs, including physical and learning disabilities. This role requires someone who can provide both educational and personal care support to ensure students thrive in a nurturing environment.
Responsibilities of the SEN Teaching Assistant:
- Provide 1:1 or small group support to pupils with complex physical, medical, and learning needs.
- Assist with personal care routines, including toileting, feeding, and mobility support.
- Support the implementation of EHCPs and tailored learning programmes.
- Use specialist resources and communication tools (e.g., PECS, Makaton, AAC devices).
- Promote independence, emotional well-being, and positive behaviour.
- Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and parents to ensure holistic support.
Job Requirements:
- Previous experience supporting individuals with complex needs and/or providing personal care.
- A caring, patient, and adaptable approach.
- Willingness to assist with personal and medical care tasks.
- Good understanding of safeguarding and SEND.
- Relevant TA or SEN qualification is desirable but not essential.
- Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one).
