Entity: Technology Job Family Group: Retail Group Job Description: Sitting within Technology, Intelligence, Security and Crisis Management (ISC), the overarching function which delivers geo-political insight, security risk management and crisis management to all bp businesses. The security function works to risk assess identified security threats and manage security barriers to enable bp’s business activity and ensure it can be conducted safely and securely, wherever the opportunities arise. The M&C Security Advisor role exists to developing, implementing, and overseeing security strategies to protect our retail stores, colleagues, and customers. This role requires a proactive and strategic problem solver with a strong background in loss prevention, physical security systems, and incident management in a retail setting. Main purpose of the role The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing security strategies to protect our retail sites, employees, and customers. This role requires a proactive and strategic thinker with a strong background in loss prevention, physical security systems, and incident management. Key Responsibilities: Incident Management & Response: Effectively manage theft, emergencies, or in-store disruptions, ensuring a swift and appropriate response to incidents. Staff Training & Security Awareness: Develop and conduct training programmes for store employees on theft prevention, fraud, and safety to foster a security-conscious culture. Internal Theft & Fraud Investigation: Conduct sensitive investigations into staff-related losses, ensuring confidentiality and professionalism. Regulatory & Legal Compliance: Knowledgeable in local security laws, use of surveillance, and detention protocols to ensure compliance with regulations. Emergency & Crisis Preparedness: Develop and test emergency plans (e.g., lockdown, robbery) to ensure readiness for potential crises. Risk assessments: Undertake appropriate risks assessments in a timely fashion utilising the URP. Multi-site Security Coordination: Manage security operations across multiple retail locations, ensuring consistency and effectiveness. Security Tech Evaluation & Deployment: Select and implement retail-focused security tools and systems to enhance overall security measures. Budget & ROI for Security Investments: Understand budgeting and demonstrate ROI in past security initiatives to justify investments in security measures. Reporting & Communication to Leadership: Communicate risks, incidents, and trends clearly to senior stakeholders, providing actionable insights and recommendations. Qualifications/Experience: Proven experience in retail security management or a related field. Strong knowledge of physical security systems and loss prevention strategies. Excellent incident management and response skills. Ability to conduct effective staff training and security awareness programs. Knowledge of regulatory and legal compliance requirements. Ability to manage security operations across multiple locations. Proficiency in evaluating and deploying security technologies. Strong budgeting and ROI analysis skills.
