Your new role
Our client is seeking an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join their team in Bolton, working on new build design & build housing projects. This role offers a fantastic opportunity for a motivated individual to develop their commercial skills while gaining hands-on experience across the full project lifecycle. Working closely with senior commercial staff, you\’ll be involved in cost management, procurement, and contract administration on exciting housing developments.

Responsibilities will include:

Supporting senior surveyors in the financial and commercial management of new build housing projects.

Assisting in the preparation of budgets, cost plans, and valuations.

Supporting the procurement process, including tender preparation and subcontractor appointment.

Monitoring project costs and progress to ensure delivery within budget.

Assisting with payment applications, variations, and final account preparation.

Liaising with site teams and subcontractors to ensure accurate reporting and cost control.

Gaining exposure to contract administration, particularly JCT contracts.

Maintaining accurate records and assisting with monthly reporting.

What you will need to succeed:

A degree (or working towards) in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, or a related field.

Some previous experience within construction, ideally in new build or housing, is desirable but not essential.

Strong numerical and analytical skills.

Good communication and organisational abilities.

A proactive approach with a willingness to learn and develop.

Ability to work effectively in a team environment.

Competency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
