About the Role:
We’re seeking an experienced Senior Allocations Officer to lead on the effective management of our housing allocations service. You’ll play a key role in ensuring that housing is allocated fairly and efficiently, in line with legislation, policy, and organisational priorities. Working closely with colleagues, partners, and applicants, you’ll help deliver a service that balances demand with available housing while maintaining a customer-first approach.
What You’ll Be Doing
Overseeing and managing the allocations process to ensure compliance with housing legislation and policies.
Assessing housing applications and making decisions on eligibility, priority, and offers.
Leading on complex allocation cases and supporting junior staff with advice and guidance.
Liaising with internal teams, local authorities, and external agencies to maximise housing opportunities.
Monitoring performance, producing reports, and identifying areas for service improvement.
Handling customer enquiries and resolving complaints effectively and professionally.
Supporting the development and training of team members.What We’re Looking For
Strong knowledge of housing legislation, allocations policies, and social housing practices.
Proven experience in housing allocations or lettings, ideally within a local authority or housing association.
Excellent communication and negotiation skills with the ability to handle sensitive cases.
Experience supervising or mentoring colleagues in a housing environment.
Good IT skills, with the ability to use housing management and case management systems.
A customer-focused attitude and commitment to equality, diversity, and inclusion.
