Trainee Estimator

As a Trainee Service Modification Estimator, you will be responsible for evaluating customer requests to modify existing electrical services, such as upgrading supplies and producing accurate and timely quotations. You will work closely with customers, engineers, and network planners to ensure proposals are technically sound, cost-effective, and aligned with regulatory requirements.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Review and assess customer applications for modifications to existing service connections.
  • Carry out desktop and/or site-based assessments as required.
  • Prepare and issue detailed, accurate quotations for service alterations.
  • Liaise with customers to clarify requirements and explain the estimation process.
  • Collaborate with design and planning teams to determine scope and feasibility of works.
  • Ensure all estimates are compliant with current industry standards and DNO policies.
  • Maintain accurate records of quotations and customer communications.
  • Provide excellent customer service throughout the enquiry and quotation process.

Skills and Experience:

  • Previous experience in electrical estimating or a similar role within utilities or construction.
  • Strong knowledge of LV/HV electrical distribution networks.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and site plans.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and estimation software/tools.
  • Full UK driving licence.
