Animal Rehoming Centre Manager

We are seeking a dedicated Centre Manager to lead a passionate team in delivering high-quality animal care and rehoming services at a Hertfordshire centre.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced manager with a passion for animal welfare to make a real impact!

Position: Centre Manager
Salary: £31,000 – £35,000 per annum (depending on experience)
Location: Tyler’s Way, Watford, WD25 8WT
Hours: 40 hours per week, including alternate weekends
Closing Date: 27th February 2025

About the Role

As Centre Manager you will help guide the future growth and potential development of the site, as they strive to give every animal the best chance of finding a new home. You will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Hertfordshire site, ensuring the highest standards of animal welfare and rehoming services. You will lead and develop a dedicated team of staff and volunteers, ensuring smooth centre operations while delivering excellent customer service.

Key responsibilities include:

  1. Managing all operational activities related to animal care, welfare, and rehoming.
  2. Leading and motivating a team, ensuring effective staff training and performance management.
  3. Overseeing the intake, assessment, and rehoming of animals, ensuring high welfare standards.
  4. Ensuring compliance with health and safety legislation, risk assessments, and centre policies.
  5. Managing budgets, fundraising activities, and local events to generate income.
  6. Engaging with the local community to raise awareness and build partnerships.
  7. Ensuring facilities and grounds are well-maintained and fit for purpose.

About You

We are looking for a strong leader with excellent organisational and people management skills.

Essential skills and experience include:

  1. Management experience in animal welfare or a similar environment.
  2. A proven track record in leading and developing teams.
  3. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  4. Strong coaching and staff development experience.
  5. The ability to prioritise workloads and manage multiple responsibilities.
  6. Good IT skills, including Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel.
  7. A full driving licence and access to a vehicle.
