We are currently on the lookout for an experienced City Manager to join the team in our state-of-the-art purpose-built student accommodation in the heart of London.

As the City Manager you will be responsible and accountable for three properties (Wood Lane Studios, Griffon Studios and Flora Building).

Wood Lane Studios: 606 beds

Griffon Studios: 566 beds

Flora Building: 268 beds

You will be responsible for the sales and operations on 1 site in London, and overseeing the sales in 2 additional properties in London. This position has both an operational and strategic focus with the City Manager leading and supporting members of our residence-based teams to drive forward positive and memorable experiences for our students, as well as setting the future direction for the City.

Responsibilities

Reporting to the Area Manager here is a snapshot of what you will do;

  • Use your upbeat, outgoing personality to lead, mentor and guide the team to ensure that the properties are running smoothly.
  • Take full responsibility of the budget and P&L, and the financial performance of the residence. You’ll cross all the T’s and dot the I’s, to ensure you are managing costs and maximizing profit for the property.
  • Follow up on all sales opportunities and ensure the properties are at capacity through short term and long term lets, including summer business activities.
  • Build, manage and cultivate strong University partnerships and local relationships.
  • Drive sales and marketing activities to ensure the residences are full and all marketing channels have been utilized to their full potential.
  • You have exceptionally high standards, and this is reflected in the overall presentation of the property, which you will manage through regular inspections and working with your facilities team.
  • Manage ‘the good’ and turn around the ‘not so good’ – meaning you will handle complaints and offer excellent customer service to your students.
  • Use your advanced knowledge of safety, security, compliance and building management to ensure core operating procedures are adhered to, followed up on and we are providing a safe secure home to our students.
  • Maintain and develop relationships with key players at the local universities, as well as internal and external suppliers.
  • Be a smooth operator and ensure the smooth running of the operational calendar and student lifecycle from arrival, departure, and summer turnaround.
  • Manage your health and safety responsibilities as set out in Section 7 of the Health and Safety at Work Etc. Act 1974, ensuring you take care of yourself and those around you, and cooperate with your employer on health and safety matters.

Qualifications

  • Relevant experience running a residence within hotels, hospitality, or better yet student accommodation.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to build and maintain quality relationships.
  • Passion to ensure that students literally have the best experience of their lives whilst living with us.
  • Demonstrates behaviours consistent with our values of integrity, commitment and energy.
  • Experience within a fast paced, target driven environment with strong focus on sales and marketing.

Preferred:

  • A preferred qualification and/or willingness to undertake training for Carbon Literacy as our Pillars are a fundamental part of our brand.
