Enter data accurately into the company’s systems (SCS Multi-freight, Government Gateway, DEFRA Peach system, and e-Customs).

Create and maintain spreadsheets using Excel for data management as required.

Communicate effectively with clients to notify them of customs clearance and make updates to Port systems.

Arrange deliveries using approved hauliers and ensure competitive rates are obtained prior to booking.

Raise invoices accurately based on agreed rates, ensuring timely processing through the accounts system.

Collaborate with the accounts department to monitor client payments and address any delays.

Maintain up-to-date original documentation and filing systems for easy retrieval and compliance checks.

Complete monthly returns within specified timeframes.

To excel in this role, you should possess a minimum of 2 years’ experience as a Customs Clearance Clerk, have a GCSE in Mathematics and English (Grade C or equivalent), and demonstrate strong communication skills. This is an office based role so you will need to be able to commute into the office. This is a Maternity cover role; therefore, you will need to come in and hit the ground running!
You will also need experience with import / export documentation. Proven organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks and work efficiently under pressure are essential. Attention to detail and accuracy in maintaining records are crucial, along with basic IT literacy, including proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and Outlook. A collaborative mindset is important for working both independently and as part of a team. Experience in customs declarations and understanding of CDS processes is desirable, along with relevant certifications such as Level 2 Customs Practise and Procedure Award and Customs Declaration Training.
