Building Surveyors to work within the Property Service at Lancashire County Council.

The Property Service provides strategic management of the council’s property, schools and highway assets to ensure that they meet the aims of the Corporate Strategy and support service delivery across the county.

The Building Surveyors are responsible for the design and delivery of a large and varied portfolio of building projects across Lancashire. We pride ourselves on delivering a high-quality, cost-effective service to a variety of Educational establishments and corporate buildings. Our team works both independently and as part of a wider multidisciplinary team include Architects, Building Services Engineers, Interior designers, geotechnical specialists, landscape architects and ecologists. Due to significant investment in the Education Sector and our Corporate portfolio were are looking to expand our team.

Our successful candidate will already have Chartered status and be RICS / CIOB registered or working towards this professional standard with a background in construction and Building surveying.

Communicative… You’ll need both skills and personality to deliver on this role so we’re looking for someone personable and friendly with fabulous skills and knowledge – we are seeking a Building Surveyor with lots of enthusiasm and the dedication required to help contribute to our continued success – we’d like you to have the ability to build lasting working relationships with clients and colleagues so having a team orientated approach is essential – you should be technically competent with a resilient nature ensuring that you can have those difficult conversations with challenging clients when needed, we want you to be an aspirational individual with a willingness to take personal responsibility for any building projects under your realm – finally your professional integrity and practice will build trust and instil confidence with your clients, team and stakeholders

Knowledgeable… You’ll have an excellent commercial awareness with a real passion for construction and design whilst also having a significant understanding of the legislation that underpins our work – your technical knowledge will showcase your ability to diagnose any potential building issues and how to overcome them – this exciting role will provide an opportunity to write specifications and complete design requirements prior to tender – to further support this, you’ll be competent using AutoCAD so with your technical proficiency you will articulate information in an accurate graphical format detailing the building work that we do – we’ll want you to examine a range of buildings of differing ages and conditions with a view to future proofing and maintaining them for our local communities – when joining our team you’ll be bringing your industry knowledge and applying it to a range of exciting building projects such as remodelling and refurbishment

works, asbestos removal, building defects remediation, extensions and future decarbonisation works

Diligent… We are hoping to attract a diligent individual who understands the impact and the value of your effort has to our wider team and the community we support – so were looking for that special someone who has the confidence to succeed and drive projects forward whilst providing innovative solutions to any building and design related challenges – you’ll have the inner confidence and a preventative methodology to spot any issues before they evolve – whilst using your initiative we’ll need you to prioritise and organise your workload as you will be adding your value to multiple projects at any one time – you’ll also have a fantastic opportunity to contribute to our decarbonisation strategy so a keen focus on energy efficiency and the future sustainability of our buildings
