Job Description:
Our client specialises in the production and supply of top-quality tomatoes and other produce grown in the most sustainable way possible. As a genuinely innovative forward-thinking business, they are passionate about what they do and pride themselves on using the most sustainable practices to deliver the best products to major retail customers.
They now have a fantastic opportunity for an Assistant Grower at their 9Ha Nursery in Tees Valley. As part of a friendly team, you will work closely with the Growing Manager, helping to grow delicious tomatoes in line with customer requirements.
Responsibilities:
- Provide support to the Growing Manager
- Advise on requirements and priorities in crop work and picking
- Monitor and advise on pest and disease management within the glasshouse
- Manage spray regime within allocated labour
- Help plan proactive and reactive controls to ensure quality in a cost-effective manner
- Collaborate with other glasshouse managers to share best practices
- Ensure daily estimates are collated and communicated to stakeholders
- Accurate yield forecasting and communication with supply chain regarding changes
- Communicate work programmes and ensure proper execution
- Drive high standards across the crop, sharing good practices and addressing issues
- Maintain Priva and Excel worksheets to high standards
You must have previous growing experience in a glasshouse. Ideally, you are Priva literate and hold spray certificates (PA1 & PA6). Most importantly, you should have the ambition and drive to support the Growing Manager in producing the crop to the required standard and quality.
