The Children\’s Commissioning Team and Adult Social Care Commissioning Team are looking for a proactive Commissioning Support Officer to help design, procure, and manage services that improve lives across Kent.
About the Role
The Commissioning Support Officer is an exciting new role within the Council\’s Commissioning Teams. As a Commissioning Support Officer, you\’ll play a pivotal role in delivering the commissioning cycle, from start to finish, for services that make a real impact on the lives of children, families, and vulnerable adults across Kent. Working alongside a team of dedicated Commissioners and colleagues across KCC, you\’ll lead on low-risk and low-value services/contracts, ensuring all activity is evidence-based, provides best value, and meets the needs of our communities.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Managing the commissioning process ensuring alignment with KCC\’s strategic outcomes.
- Leading effective contract management to drive value and improve service outcomes.
- Supporting service redesign initiatives to improve outcomes and engagement.
- Administering low-value procurements and ensuring compliance with policies.
- Undertaking research, data analysis, and forecasting to inform commissioning plans.
- Building positive relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders.
Qualifications and skills:
- NVQ Level 4 or equivalent, or a degree-level qualification and a commitment to ongoing professional development.
- A solid understanding of the commissioning process and relevant legislation (e.g., Children\’s services, Adult Social Care, and Public Health).
- Proven experience in project management and working in partnership settings.
- Strong organisational, analytical, and communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and excellent communication abilities.
