An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Cloud Support Engineer to join a well-established and forward-thinking technology company, delivering innovative software solutions to clients across multiple sectors. You’ll play a key role in ensuring cloud platforms remain secure, stable, and high-performing, while driving automation and process improvements. This is a hybrid role requiring two days per week in the office, with the rest working remotely.
Location: Ludlow, Shropshire – hybrid, 2 days per week in the office
Salary: £45,000 – £55,000 per annum + benefits + performance bonus
Requirements for Cloud Support Engineer:
- Commercial experience managing Azure and AWS environments
- Skilled in writing and managing infrastructure as code using Terraform
- Proficient with Ansible and confident in maintaining clean, efficient playbooks
- Strong understanding of cloud networking, including VPNs, firewalls, and proxies
- Ability to troubleshoot across Windows, Active Directory, and complex cloud setups
- Experience with SQL Server, SMTP, IIS, and CI/CD pipelines
- Knowledge of cloud security standards such as ISO27001 and PCI-DSS
- Experience using ticketing systems (e.g. Jira) and improving support workflows
- Excellent communication skills, able to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
- Passion for automation and an openness to exploring AI tools to streamline operations
Beneficial experience:
- Knowledge of backup solutions, DNS configuration, and system performance optimisation
- Experience collaborating with DevOps teams on software releases
- Familiarity with AI’s potential to enhance operational efficiency
Responsibilities for Cloud Support Engineer:
- Manage and resolve infrastructure-related support tickets, identifying root causes quickly
- Build and maintain highly available cloud environments using automation tools
- Troubleshoot and optimise Azure and AWS components
- Support software releases in collaboration with engineering teams
- Implement and maintain cloud security best practices
- Drive automation across infrastructure and deployment processes
- Document fixes, update internal knowledge bases, and improve support workflows
- Work with cross-functional teams to enhance system reliability, scalability, and security
