Tower Hamlets maintains approximately 4,650 Education Health and Care plans for children and young people with SEND based in local and out of borough schools and post 16 settings. The SEND Finance and Placements Officer will sit within the SEN service and will play a key part in ensuring that the right funding reaches the right places at the right time, enabling children and young people with SEND to access the education they need.

You will support the Finance and Placements manager in managing and monitoring SEND placement funding across a wide range of educational settings – from local schools to out‑of‑borough provision and post‑16 institutions. This will include administrating SEN top‑up funding to schools, processing college charges and independent school fees, and reviewing funding requests against agreed criteria. You will liaise directly with schools and providers about payments and work closely with colleagues across the SEN service to ensure every placement is managed effectively and transparently.

To succeed in this role, you will have strong numerical and data skills, excellent attention to detail, and a methodical approach to your work. You will be confident in using financial systems and software (knowledge of Synergy would be an advantage. You will be a team player who can work collaboratively with colleagues, schools, colleges, and external partners.
