About the role
Sitting within our Corporate Debt Recovery Service, we are seeking to employ an experienced collections officer dealing with the Enforcement of Council Tax and Business Rates debt. We are looking for an enthusiastic officer to join this exciting team. Ideally candidates will come with experience of dealing with various routes of recovery available to the Local Authority, particularly Enforcement action using Enforcement Agents. This role requires extensive collections experience and negotiations as well as a basic understanding of council tax and business rates notices.
The successful candidate will require:
- Experience of debt collection roles, ideally telephone and document based
- Understanding of Enforcement legislation in relation to Council Tax and Business Rates
- Self-motivated and able to motivate others
- Well-developed negotiation skills in order to influence both customers who owe debts to the Council and internal colleagues / departments to improve service delivery
- Resilience in fast paced, pressurised environment
Applicants should be aware the service operates from 8am until 6pm and therefore it is expected that your start and finish times may vary to ensure there is an officer working during business hours.
