Description

The department HVDC Engineering Plant Electrical Design manages the delivery of auxiliary power systems for HVDC stations. The design of this system is complex and involves collaboration with internal and external stakeholders. Responsibilities include system design, selectivity studies, equipment specification, cable and transit system design. Equipment managed includes auxiliary transformers, switchgear, diesel generators, batteries, UPS, and cables.

Due to growth, we are looking to expand our team with a Senior Project Engineer .

This role is hybrid (2-3 days in the office) based in Glasgow or Birmingham, with some international travel for meetings, site supervision, and coordination.

Please note we are unable to provide visa support for this position.

How you’ll make an impact

  • Coordinate team tasks, manage contacts with other departments, clients, and suppliers.
  • Accountable for auxiliary power system deliverables, including SLD, load calculations, equipment dimensioning, and specifications.
  • Review supplier drawings, oversee FAT, cable routing, installation, and commissioning.
  • Ensure design aligns with grid code and customer requirements.

Your background

  • Several years of technical and leadership experience, including planning and delegation.
  • Experience with auxiliary power, selectivity studies, or low voltage installation/commissioning.
  • Good knowledge of Grid Code, National Grid, and SSE requirements.
  • Proficiency in English, both spoken and written.
  • Experience working in international teams or companies.
