Role – Quality Manager – Infrastructure
Location – Norwich, A47
Purpose of the role:
GT Highways is one of 5 business units that make up the Galliford Try Infrastructure Division. It delivers projects for national and local clients.
The project that this role is required for is to work on National Highways RDP A47 Scheme. The project will involve the construction of new carriageway, structures, large earthworks and drainage packages all while considering the Environment and local communities and stakeholders. The scheme between North Tuddenham and Easton is 9.5km and valued in the region of £300 million.
The purpose of the Quality Engineer role is to assist the team in ensuring the scheme is constructed to the required standards, remains within the budget and handed over on time and defect free., Quality and Document Control:

Understand and implement the Quality, Safety and Environmental Policies and Targets

Comply, as appropriate, with the processes contained within the Project Quality systems
-
Ensure use of the Project document management system
-
Considers the need to satisfy customer requirements with the aim of enhancing the customers’ perception and satisfaction
-
Promote a positive Quality culture both within the project team, supply chain and wider business. Drive GT ‘Right First Time’ and ‘Delivering Excellence’ within the project.

Work with sub-contractors to review Quality Plans and Inspection and Test Plans.

Attend Quality pre-start meetings with sub-contractors and suppliers.

Ensure sub-contractors and suppliers are aware of their quality requirements and identify, communicate and mitigate key risk areas.

Monitor and assist with the collation of handover information as required.

Assisting with the management of NCRs, Defects and ensuring the quality of product on site.

Monitoring and reporting of non-conformance and quality related KPIs both internally and in line with client requirements.

Good working knowledge of industry standards national and international (SHW, EU Construction Products Regulations, Relevant British Standards and Testing Requirements).

Undertaking audits and production of audit reports of activities on site

Support the Construction and Commercial Teams in management of RFIs and TQs, to resolve technical issues and identified non-conformance.

Use of audits, investigations and lessons learned to identify and communicate good practice, key risks and highlight these both internally and to the wider industry.

Work and communicate with the Client representatives to review and accept activities on site.

Business Management System (BMS) :

Monitor, review and update procedures as required

Manage the certification process

Support the team as needed in the improvement of procedures, forms and guidance as needed in delivery

Champion and reinforce the use of the business management system throughout the project lifetime in a ‘business as usual’ state

Ongoing mentoring of team members on all areas of business management system

Liaise with Parent Organisations to ensure alignment and / or approved deviation as appropriate from parent organisation procedural requirements
Communication and Training :

Communicate internally on the outcome of audits and management systems review

Promote customer focus through the use of quality systems

Facilitate problem solving, improvements and clarification of due processes

Excellent communication skills, with a positive attitude and the ability to work with team which ensures that quality and contractual issues are identified and closed out in a timely manner.

A working knowledge of Business Management Systems and contractual documentation

Possession of ISO 9001 Internal Auditor qualifications with the relevant experience of the Construction industry

Appropriate professional qualifications and/or extensive technical experience within Civil construction work would be desirable for this role.

Computer literate (MS Office suite of software) including MS Visio, with excellent report writing and spreadsheet skills.

Full Driving Licence.
