Job overview
The post-holder will join a team of 8 Consultants providing ENT services to Shropshire and parts of Powys, with a population of approximately 560,000. They will work alongside a full-time Rhinology and Skull Base consultant who offers mentorship. Outpatient care is provided for both adults and children at two sites, with day-case and inpatient care at Telford. The role includes routine Rhinology and facial plastics, with opportunities to expand and develop the medical Rhinology service.
Main duties of the job
- Provide Rhinology care for children and adults in outpatient and theatre settings.
- Contribute to the extended Rhinology service, focusing on endoscopic sinus procedures and facial plastic surgery access.
- Participate in a 1 in 9 on-call ENT service covering both hospitals.
- Engage in teaching and training junior staff.
- Develop clinical skills, especially in managing acutely ill patients.
- Work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Achieve clinical and quality targets set nationally and locally.
- Follow patients throughout their clinical pathways.

A formal job plan will be agreed within 3 months of starting, based on a 10 PA working week, covering clinical work, teaching, research, and managerial duties. The plan includes 9 Programmed Activities (PAs) for clinical work and 1 SPA for professional development activities. Adjustments may be made based on service needs and personal circumstances.
