The Lead Engineering Technician reports to the Engineering Laboratory Manager for the Air Product Line and is responsible for the technical support of all laboratory testing and associate systems, including military and civilian programs. The Lead Engineering Technician will utilize knowledge and experience to create custom test set-ups, write and review technical reports as well as supporting the broader engineering team for test campaigns.
This position is part of the Aerospace Engineering department and will be located in Farlington, Portsmouth, England.
In this role, you will have the opportunity to:
- Perform all qualification testing for military and civilian programs. Ensuring test set-ups and procedures produce repeatable results while applying technical knowledge to analyze and resolve assigned test related problems.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues with mechanical and electrical systems, to ensure continued functionality of the labs and its equipment.
- Use Engineering principals to analyze test data to produce technical reports using software-based systems.
The essential requirements of the job include:
- Must have an associate degree in a relevant engineering field from an accredited technical college/university or ten plus (10+) years of working experience in qualification testing preferably on aerospace products.
- Must have a knowledge of and experience with mechanical engineering principles to an extent that can be used to design and fabricate fixtures and set-ups that need to be safely used in the laboratory
- Must have strong computer literacy in Microsoft Word, Excel (complex formula and macro’s) and Power Point
Physical/Environment Requirements:
- Required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger dexterity, handle, or fell objects tools or controls, teach with hands and arms, climb stairs, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, talk and hear
- Must occasionally lift and/or move up to thirty pounds
It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:
- Knowledge and experience with Data Acquisition and control (Labview and DasyLab preferred)
- Knowledge of Electronics and electrical circuitry for test applications
- Leadership experience, managing a small team or a supervisory role
