We are seeking a talented and driven individual to become the next editor of Somerset Life magazine.

Somerset Life is a celebrated lifestyle publication that captures the essence of Somerset’s culture, countryside, coastlines, and communities. From the rolling hills of the Mendips to the vibrant arts scene in Frome and the timeless charm of Wells, our magazine showcases the stories, people, and places that make Somerset truly special. With a loyal monthly readership of 32,000 primarily female, affluent consumers, Somerset Life is known for its high-quality, locally focused content.

Key Responsibilities

  • Overseeing the editorial process from concept to publication
  • Managing and coordinating a team of contributors
  • Ensuring all content meets the highest standards of quality and relevance
  • Collaborating with marketing and sales teams to align editorial content with business objectives
  • Staying updated on industry trends and competitor publications
  • Contributing to content planning and strategy
  • Networking and attending events in the region

Skills, Knowledge & Expertise

  • Proven experience editing lifestyle or premium magazines
  • Hold an NCTJ (National Council for the Training of Journalists) qualification
  • Exceptional writing, editing, and proofreading skills
  • Strong leadership and management abilities
  • Excellent organisational and multitasking skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
  • Is based in the Somerset area and can commute to the Taunton office
  • Own vehicle and full UK driving licence
