Job Description:

Social Worker working in the Team you will:

  • Undertake assessments with children with disabilities, young people, and their families/carers.
  • Empower children, young people, and their families/carers by listening to their views.
  • Plan services to meet their needs and ensure actions are taken to implement plans.
  • Advocate for children with disabilities to obtain benefits, services, and support.
  • Use available resources effectively to respond to their needs.
  • Provide written reports in various formats as required.
  • Fulfill statutory and legislative requirements for children and young people receiving services.
  • Promote cultural needs and challenge discrimination and racism, working within Sandwell Children\’s Trust ethos and values, and promoting Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) strategies.
  • Carry out duties in line with the Trust\’s equality policy, acting sensitively and promoting a positive, harmonious working environment. Act as an exemplar on these issues and monitor training needs.
  • Build positive relationships with children from Short Breaks, providing immediate responses to risk situations.
  • Ensure direct work with children prioritizes their voice and promotes the use of sensory tools.

Requirements for success:

  • Experience working within children and family services.
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation and guidance.
  • Ability to prioritize, analyze information, and make informed decisions.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage conflicting demands.
