Specialist Speech and Language Therapist – SEND School
Location: Chester
Working Hours: Full Time – Monday to Friday, 08:30am to 15:30pm
Start Date: September 2025 (or as soon as available)
Contract Type: Term Time Only

Are you a passionate Speech and Language Therapist looking to make a meaningful impact in the lives of children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)?

Prospero Teaching are seeking a skilled and motivated Specialist Speech and Language Therapist to join our dedicated team at a specialist SEND school in Chester. The school supports students aged 4 to 19 years, primarily with autism, and some with additional learning difficulties and challenging behaviours.

About the Role:

You will play a key role in supporting communication and language development across the school. Working as part of a passionate multidisciplinary team, you’ll provide assessments, deliver individual and group interventions, and collaborate closely with teaching staff and families to help each young person reach their full potential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Carry out detailed assessments and deliver tailored therapy plans.
  • Support the development of communication-friendly environments.
  • Deliver targeted interventions to individuals and small groups.
  • Collaborate with staff and external agencies to support pupil progress.
  • Contribute to EHCPs and attend review meetings as required.
  • Train and support school staff in communication strategies.

Ideal Candidate:

  • Degree in Speech and Language Therapy and HCPC registration.
  • Experience working with children or young people with autism and/or complex communication needs.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and a team-focused attitude.
  • A strong understanding of AAC, PECS, and other alternative communication systems (desirable).
  • Passionate about inclusive education and empowering students through communication.
