About this opportunity
The Fleet Services Team plays a crucial role in ensuring the safe and legal operation of the Council’s fleet, which includes vehicles and plant machinery. This supports the Council in fulfilling its statutory obligations and delivering essential services.
The team manages a diverse fleet, including waste and recycling vehicles, street scene equipment, pool cars, gritters, tipper trucks, coaches, minibuses, library vans, and fire appliances. It also maintains over 1,000 items of plant, such as trailers and mowers. Responsibilities include procurement of fuel, fuel cards, telematics, administration of pool car schemes, vehicle insurance, taxation, and supporting procurement exercises.
The team also ensures compliance with relevant legislation and guidance regarding vehicles and drivers.
Purpose of this post
To support the management and delivery of Transport and Fleet Management projects through operational, compliance, and administrative tasks, ensuring efficient, safe, and cost-effective fleet services.
Key responsibilities
- Coordinate and process fuel orders using Fleet management systems like Assetminder.
- Manage data within Assetminder, including supplier updates and purchase orders.
- Generate and analyze weekly driver reports using Masternaut software.
- Support vehicle defect compliance and oversee rectification.
- Facilitate invoicing processes and resolve supplier queries.
- Investigate and process vehicle insurance claims.
- Administer pool car systems, including user setup and bookings.
- Act as liaison with external vehicle maintenance suppliers.
- Manage fuel card issuance and tracking.
- Maintain the Fortress fuel management system.
This role is hybrid, requiring a minimum of three days at Skirsgill Depot, Penrith, and up to two days remote work per week.
