Specialising in Hydrogen Innovation for a Net-Zero Tomorrow

Are you ready to shape the future of energy through data-driven insight and strategic excellence? We\’re looking for a dynamic Hydrogen Programme Specialist to join our team and lead the charge in delivering high-impact solutions across one of the most exciting areas of the energy transition. This role is about more than just technical expertise-it\’s about owning a specialist service, driving innovation, and making a tangible difference to internal and external customers. If you thrive in a fast-paced environment where your decisions influence strategy and your actions promote a culture of safety, inclusion, and excellence, we want to hear from you.

You\’ll be trusted to deliver a high-quality experience, combining deep knowledge with outstanding communication skills to translate complex issues into clear, actionable plans. Your ability to investigate, analyse, and contextualise large datasets will be key to driving operational improvements and shaping strategic direction. You\’ll work cross-functionally, liaising with stakeholders to understand business needs, communicate recommendations, and ensure that every project is executed with purpose and precision. A strong understanding of our sector and core policies will empower you to contribute meaningfully to our customer-oriented approach and promote our values in everything you do.

Strong Excel skills are essential-you\’ll be expected to analyse large datasets, build robust models, and present insights using advanced reporting tools. Your expertise will help guide decision-making and ensure resources are optimally deployed. If you\’re inquisitive, proactive, and passionate about creating an inclusive environment while delivering brilliant customer service, this is your opportunity to be part of something transformative. Join us and help power a cleaner, smarter energy future.

Why You\’ll Love This Role:

  • Lead the Charge on Hydrogen Infrastructure Delivery
Take ownership of Capital Delivery\’s major infrastructure programme. You\’ll be at the heart of project delivery-collaborating with internal and external consultants to ensure every milestone is met with precision and purpose.

  • Drive Strategic Planning and Performance Excellence
You\’ll support the development of detailed project schedules and perform deep-dive analyses to track progress, manage risks, and run what-if scenarios. Your insights will shape decision-making and ensure projects stay on track, on budget, and on time.

  • Champion PMO Best Practice Across the Portfolio
Support the wider Hydrogen Portfolio by embedding best-in-class PMO processes-from governance and reporting to resource and scope management. You\’ll be a go-to subject matter expert for project controls, document standards, and continuous improvement, ensuring every project aligns with our lifecycle and stage gate methodology.

  • Be the Voice of Clarity and Control
Provide a single source of truth for project information and document control, enabling transparency and trust across teams. You\’ll produce governance reports, lead health checks, and coordinate monthly updates for internal and external stakeholders-always operating with the mantra of no surprises.

  • Inspire Collaboration and Continuous Growth
Build strong relationships across the business, delegate effectively, and support the project team with expert guidance. You\’ll lead in resource forecasting and change control, and support in evaluation of early warnings and compensation events. All while staying ahead of emerging technologies and evolving best practices.

What You\’ll Bring:

  • Proven Project Management Expertise
You\’ll bring solid experience in project management, ideally within a PMO environment. Familiarity with NEC3/4 contracts is highly desirable, and a qualification such as APM PMQ or equivalent would be a strong advantage.

  • Educational Foundation
You should be educated to at least HNC/HND level or have equivalent practical experience. A degree in Engineering or Project Management is desirable and will support your ability to navigate complex technical and strategic challenges.

  • Advanced Planning and Analytical Skills
You\’ll be confident in building and managing detailed schedules. Your attention to detail and problem-solving mindset will help you analyse data, evaluate risks, and produce high-quality reports and governance packs for senior stakeholders.

  • Exceptional Communication and Stakeholder Engagement
You\’ll need excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to influence, build relationships, and collaborate effectively across teams. Experience in stakeholder management and producing clear, impactful business information is essential.

  • Organised, Proactive, and Detail-Oriented
This role demands a highly organised individual with a proactive approach to delivery. You\’ll be expected to manage competing priorities, maintain accuracy under pressure, and consistently demonstrate a commitment to continuous improvement.
