PA / Housekeeper to a Disabled Person

AskJules specialises in helping disabled students recruit and employ Personal Assistants to provide their personal care, social and academic support.
We are looking to recruit an outstanding individual to provide house-keeping and practical support to an accountant with a physical disability.
Please note that this will be on a fixed term contract of 1 year with the potential to become permanent for the right person.
Our client is a chartered accountant, and is looking for another PA to join his team to undertake domestic tasks and food preparation, with a minimal amount of personal care involved.
Start: ASAP
Location: Westfield Village (South Woking)
Days: Monday to Friday
Morning Shift Patterns – 5:45am to 7:45am / 6:30am to 8:30am / 8am to 10am.
Evening Shift Pattern – 5:30pm to 7pm / 6pm to 7:30pm.
Pay: £15 per hour for morning shift, £13.50 for evening shift
This role is a job share with the other established PA. A rota will be set by our client, having regard for the availability of each PA.
Working on weekends will be rare and discussed in advance.
Please note that this is a zero-hours contract, therefore the hours may change to suit our client’s needs. The above is indicative only.
Duties include:
- Ensuring that our client’s property (a 2 bedroom house) is clean and tidy (hoovering, dusting etc), in particular the kitchen and bathrooms which must be kept to a high standard of cleanliness.
- Ensuring that our client’s clothes and washing is well organised, clean, and ironed where appropriate.
- Support our client with basic tasks that are of a more personal nature e.g. shirt buttoning.
It is expected that after a couple of weeks, the routine that you will establish with our client will become instinctive, and that you will set about your tasks on arrival without needing much prompting.
Person Specification:
The successful candidate will:
- Be well organised and a highly effective time-keeper.
- Be a good communicator.
- Be punctual, and are able to work as part of a team to ensure shifts are covered.
- Be clean, tidy, and respectful of our client and his partner’s home.
- Be instinctive with regards to cleaning / tidying tasks.
- Be mindful of the need to prevent the spread of viruses and bacterial infections.
- Pay close attention to detail in all areas of work.
- Have very high standards of personal hygiene (e.g. hand washing at regular and appropriate times).
- Have a working knowledge and understanding of food safety / hygiene.
- Have a basic knowledge of cooking and will know what to do with common kitchen equipment.
- Be mindful of our client and his partner’s privacy and recognise the importance of discretion and confidentiality in all areas of work.
- Access to own transport will be advantageous due to location.
