A welcoming primary school in Middleton is seeking a dedicated Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join their team this September, with a particular focus on pastoral support. This role will combine traditional HLTA duties with pastoral responsibilities, supporting children who may face barriers to learning and helping them develop their social, emotional and behavioural skills.

Responsibilities

  • Delivering small group and 1:1 interventions focusing on social, emotional and academic development
  • Supporting pupils with additional needs, including SEMH and SEND
  • Acting as a positive role model and key point of contact for pupils needing pastoral support
  • Working closely with teachers, SENCO and pastoral staff to create tailored support strategies
  • Covering classes when required and supporting teaching across the school

  • Strong behaviour management and pastoral skills
  • Experience supporting children with SEMH, SEND or additional pastoral needs
  • Resilience, empathy and a nurturing approach
  • Ability to work collaboratively with staff, families and external agencies
