As part of a growing and agile business, our Environmental Planning team is looking for a Principal/Associate Technical Director with a strong track record of leading the environmental and consenting aspects of projects, particularly in winning and delivering work in the Design and Build sector.
In this role you will help improve quality of life. Your specialism in environmental management or technical/sustainability expertise may involve protected species, pollution, surface water and materials management, air quality or noise, across some of the world\’s busiest and most beautiful locations.
Role accountabilitiesYou will work on a diverse range of projects, including large‐scale energy and infrastructure, rail, highways, water and mixed‐use development schemes for both private and public clients, public realm and master‐planning projects, and smaller projects that require a nimble and agile approach. You will play a key role in the successful delivery of multidisciplinary projects across the UK and worldwide.
Lead the coordination and delivery of planning/environmental work by multi‐disciplinary teams, influencing project development and delivering optimal environmental and planning outcomes, with a strong understanding of the Design & Build process.
Drive business development, create project opportunities and lead delivery of projects to build our portfolio in the D&B sector, while also working closely with upstream Environmental and Planning work.
Raise awareness of our services, win new opportunities and build new contacts.
Actively engage in key client relationships, leading by example and creating cross‐selling opportunities for the wider business.
Engage with consultees and stakeholders.
Manage projects, overseeing performance on technical, quality, commercial, and health and safety aspects.
Work closely with existing and established Arcadis colleagues across our Global Business Arcadis.
Qualifications & Experience
Excellent working knowledge of the environmental and consenting process, including EIA practices, procedures, case law, and a solid understanding of environmental and sustainability principles.
Strong experience working with contractors and influencing sustainability through design.
Experience across a range of project types.
Strong report‐writing, verbal and presentation skills with experience reviewing the work of others to ensure quality.
Experience in multi‐disciplinary coordination and leadership of projects, with good project management and technical skills.
Experience in consulting and negotiating with planning authorities, regulators and stakeholders.
Commercial expertise, including forecasting, project management and quality assurance.
Relevant degree or equivalent qualification, preferably with chartered status or working towards one.
