JOB DESCRIPTION
JOB TITLE: Supervisory Assistant
REPORTS TO: Principal/Senior Supervisory Assistant
JOB PURPOSE
Responsible individually or as a member of a team for supervising children and maintaining discipline on school premises during mid-day break, including overseeing children during meals and ensuring safety and order.
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist in supervising children in all school areas to observe health and safety regulations and enforce discipline.
- Liaise with the principal/senior supervisory assistant on mid-day supervision matters.
- Handle minor issues, accidents, sickness, and report serious incidents promptly.
- Supervise children during meals, including managing movement, queues, seating, and conduct.
- Responsible for collection of dinner tickets, meal distribution, cleaning spillages, litter removal, and assisting children as needed.
- Perform duties related to cash cafeterias as delegated.
- Comply with health and safety laws, regulations, and codes of practice.
- Complete necessary paperwork and perform all duties within the competence of the role.
- Review and adapt job responsibilities as needed, promoting equality and good relations in accordance with Section 75 of the Northern Ireland Act (1998).

Ability to work flexibly and ensure safe supervision, effective communication and teamwork skills, good planning and organizational skills, and alignment with school values.
SECTION 3 β DESIRABLE CRITERIA
At least six monthsβ experience working with children in a formal setting.

Post involves regulated activity; a criminal background check (Enhanced Disclosure) will be required, with costs borne by the applicant.
