Electrician Job Description
As a skilled Electrician, you will be responsible for the preparation, testing, repair, and maintenance of electrical equipment, including rental cables, distribution panels, and associated accessories. You will ensure all equipment meets operational and safety standards, and manage the necessary spare parts required for repairs and maintenance.
Strong technical skills and excellent communication skills are essential.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare single and three-phase rental equipment, such as AMF panels, distribution boards, isolation panels, and transformers. Perform electrical testing, inspections, and record results.
- Test and prepare rental cables, including single cables (up to 240mm²) and multicore cables (up to 35mm²).
- Assemble rental cables and accessories using connectors such as lugged connections, Powerlock, and Ceeform plugs/sockets.
- Perform repairs on distribution boards and related electrical equipment, ensuring all repairs meet standards and are completed promptly.
- Manage and source necessary spare parts for repairs and maintenance, maintaining an efficient inventory.
- Ensure smooth workflow within the warehouse, prioritising electrical bay activities.
- Perform general warehouse duties, including off-hiring, loading, unloading, and reporting damages.
- Maintain communication with the Operations Team regarding fleet availability and shortfalls.
- Adhere to Health & Safety, Environmental, and ISO standards (9001, 14001, 45001), keeping the work area clean and organized.
- Contribute to continuous improvement in equipment testing, maintenance, and safety.
Skills and Experience:
- Relevant qualification in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering (e.g., City & Guilds, BTEC) or equivalent.
- OR completed an approved apprenticeship in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering.
- OR proven experience servicing and repairing generator sets (e.g., FG Wilson).
- Experience with control systems and load bank testing is advantageous; training can be provided.
- Current CSCS card preferred; training can be provided.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
