Job Summary
We seek a high-quality Test Development Engineer to join our team. You will collaborate with hardware and software teams to develop and maintain test systems supporting preproduction testing. Reporting to the Hardware Test Team Lead, you will be embedded within the Hardware team. We value proactive, collaborative team players who take ownership of their tasks and develop solutions meeting our requirements, regardless of academic background or experience.
You will work closely with internal teams and third-party engineers to ensure effective communication and contribute to the Hardware Team’s success.
The Team
The Hardware Test Team is part of the larger Hardware group, which includes Signal Integrity, Mechanical, Layout, Package, and Hardware Engineers. This team is responsible for delivering cutting-edge accelerators for machine learning and collaborates with Silicon, Firmware, and Production teams during product development.
Responsibilities and Duties
The successful candidate will define test methods, specify test equipment, and automate test systems. The team currently tests, debugs, and characterizes high-speed serial links, power supplies capable of high current and fast transients, and slower protocols like JTAG, I2C, and I3C, along with low-level PCBA debugging.
Understanding Graphcore hardware and software products and operating them in test environments is essential.
The role involves understanding industry performance standards, data analysis, and presentation systems, with responsibilities including:
- Manual testing and debugging of complex high-speed SERDES (e.g., PCIe Gen 6, 112/224Gb PAM4 Ethernet) using high-bandwidth oscilloscopes, BERTs, and VNAs, and understanding IEEE standards.
- Designing graphical user interfaces for product testing.
- Developing test systems for Graphcore’s Machine Learning Accelerators at system and board levels.
- Transferring preproduction test knowledge to the production team.
- Analyzing and improving test coverage.
- Maintaining and developing characterization systems.
- Automating tests using Python or LabVIEW.
Candidate Profile
- Experience with Ethernet and/or PCIe
- Project planning skills
- Experience in developing and automating test systems for complex electronics
- Proficiency in test scripting languages like Python and LabVIEW
- Strong communication, teamwork, and interpersonal skills
- Knowledge of LPDDR, HBM interfaces
- Experience with high-current, fast transient power supplies
- Knowledge of Linux and Bash scripting
- Previous experience with server verification
- Understanding of PCBA production testing methods (ICT, SLT)
- Data analysis experience
